Let’s Start Things Off

This is a site I’ve been contemplating starting for a little while now. It just seemed like a fun idea, given how crazy children can make you. I’ll start things off with a story that happened a short time ago today, that reminded me how much I needed to actually get this site going.

I’m watching my nieces today, as my sister and her husband clean their home after the California wildfires. That means I have one 6 year old, one 5 year old, one 4 year old and one 2 year old in the house. The oldest 3 are girls and get pretty wild when they’re together.

living room snow

I heard the kids talking about it snowing in the living room. Given that they all have great imaginations, I was sucker enough to not think anything of it. But I finally went to check it out and really wished that I had brought my camera. It had indeed “snowed” in the living room, the source being a bag of polyfill I had bought to help make the tail for my son’s dragon costume for Halloween. It was spread out over the entire floor.

All you parents know how hard I had to try to not laugh as I scolded them and made them take a time out before cleaning up the mess. I did get a picture of the mess, of course, as you can see above.

  1. Oh my… hehe. At least it came from a bag and not your cushions. I think it was my older brother who tore some pillow’s open for the same “effect.” My mother was less than amused but I’m sure she found it quite funny when we were set loose outside.

^_^ kids will always find ways to keep you on your toes.

  2. Oh no! What a spectacular mess that must have been! lol.

Silly you, thinking the kids weren’t being serious ;)

Hi, I’m Laura, pleasure to meet you :)

  3. Glad to meet you too. Hoping to meet plenty of interesting parents this way.

And I was quite relieved that the snow came from something so harmless. It was also a lesson for the kids – what comes from one bag may take two or more to clean it up.
